The 33,000 students of the University of Georgia reside mainly in Athens, Georgia, some seventy miles from Atlanta in the United States. The university comprises sixteen schools and colleges and offers an enormous array of programs for graduates and undergraduates, having grown substantially since it was founded in 1799. The college campus retains some of its history and was largely modelled on the campus at Yale making it apparently grand and traditional. Recently a Study Abroad Program has been started where three of the very best students study at Oxford University, England in a house owned by the University of Georgia. Various scholarships won by merit only have greatly helped to improve the academic standards, with grades being crucial to the release of funds. |
