Founded in the late nineteenth century, Raleigh is the largest university in North Carolina with more than 35,000 students. It offers more than 100 degree courses and more than 100 postgraduate courses. Entry is selective and fewer than 61% of people applying are accepted. A third of all students choose to live in Halls of Residence, of which there are twenty within the three main campuses. Very strong on sport and athletics, a vast number of professional athletes and sportspeople studied here as well as many notable politicians. |
