The Flinders University in southern Australia, named after nineteenth century British explorer Matthew Flinders, was founded in 1966. With a strong reputation as a leading research university, Flinders was one of the first Australian colleges to base its medical school within a public hospital adjacent to the college campus. Flinders now offers more than 160 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as higher degree research supervision across a variety of disciplines. It has also begun to offer many alternatives to face-to face tuition providing more distance learning opportunities. |
